Outreach and Compliance Coordination: Title IX Program: Sex Discrimination in Education
Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 (20 U.S.C. § 1681 et seq.),as amended, is the landmark civil rights statute that prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in federally assisted education programs. This "cross-cutting" statute applies government-wide to all educational programs (with certain statutory exceptions) for which the Federal government provides financial assistance.

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission's (NRC) Outreach and Compliance Coordination Program (OCCP) is administered by the Office of Small Business and Civil Rights. The OCCP is responsible for providing oversight, compliance coordination, and enforcement of Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972. OCCP leads the agency's efforts to ensure recipients of NRC Federal Financial Assistance comply with Title IX and NRC regulations. The OCCP ensures NRC's recipients do not discriminate on the basis of sex against individuals who participate (or are eligible to participate) in their education programs or activities.
OCCP provides the following support services:
- Oversight, coordination, and enforcement.
- Outreach and technical assistance
- Monitor programs and activities.
- Civil rights training.
- Educational materials.
- Informal and formal resolution.
- Prepare agency progress/status reports.
