NRC Title or Position

The standards of conduct (5 CFR 2635.702) prohibit employees from using their NRC title or position for personal gain or the gain of anyone else. It also prohibits employees from appearing to show preferential treatment to or endorsing anyone.

Example: An NRC employee may not appear in a television commercial in which she endorses a product manufactured by a private company by stating that the NRC considers it one of the best available.

Example: An NRC employee may not use his official title or refer to his NRC title or position in a book jacket endorsement of a novel written by a friend. He also cannot do so in a book review published in a newspaper.

Example: An NRC employee who teaches a course cannot allow the university to use his NRC in a publication unless it includes other biographical information, such as his education or other work experience.
