David Alley

Dr. David Alley currently serves as the Chief of theMaterials Safety and Tribal Liaison Branch in the U.S. Nuclear RegulatoryCommission’s Office of Nuclear Material Safety and Safeguards. In this role, heoversees the programmatic direction involving the academic and industrial usesof radioactive materials, as well as manages the NRC’s Tribal LiaisonProgram.  Dr. Alley joined the NRC in 2009 and has held a variety oftechnical and leadership positions related to reactor safety, including theChief of the Piping and Head Penetration Branch in the Office of NuclearReactor Regulation.  Prior to joining the NRC, Dr. Alley was a careerCoast Guard officer and held technical and management positions in the oil refiningand water treatment industries.  Dr. Alley holds three US Patents as wellas academic degrees from the Coast Guard Academy, the University of Michigan,and the University of Connecticut.
