Albert "Brandt" Petrasek

A. Brandt Petrasek serves as the Director of Tribal Affairs for the Department of Energy's (DOE's) Office of Environmental Management (EM), overseeing DOE's State and Tribal Government Working Group and execution of Tribal cooperative agreements at DOE-EM related sites. He is the Departmental lead to the National Conference of State Legislatures and its engagement with DOE offices supporting Tribal affairs, including DOE's Tribal working groups, Tribal Leader Dialogues and Secretarial Summits. He began his DOE career in 1992, initially serving under Secretary Admiral Watkins in the Office of Community Outreach.

Mr. Petrasek has also served DOE in other capacities, including his role as Special Advisor to establish the Office of Indian Energy Policy and Programs. He also supported the Office of Spent Nuclear Fuel, leading successful delegations to Korea and Indonesia in support of the Atoms for Peace program. In addition, he was the Secretary’s Designate in support of State Department efforts related to the 50th Annual NATO Summit held in Washington DC in 1999.

Prior to joining DOE, Mr. Petrasek worked at the U.S. Department of Justice, was a Health Law Fellow for the U.S. Senate Committee on Aging, and held clerkships at the U.S. Tax Court. He has degrees from the University of Virginia and the Columbus School of Law at Catholic University.
