Ricardo Torres

Ricardo Torres is a materials engineer in the Materials and Structural Branch at the Division of Fuel Management in the Office of Nuclear Material Safety and Safeguards.  Dr. Torres conducts safety reviews for the transportation and storage of radioactive material and spent nuclear fuel per the requirements in 10 CFR Part 71 and 10 CFR Part 72.  He has supported the development of technical basis and guidance documents on the performance and aging management of materials in transportation packages and dry storage systems  Prior to the NRC, Dr. Torres worked as a Senior Scientist at Savannah River National Laboratory in Aiken, South Carolina.  Dr. Torres holds degrees in Materials Science from the University of Florida and in Polymer Science from Case Western Reserve University.
