Julio Lara

Mr. Lara currently serves as Director, Division of Reactor Projects, Region III.  He is responsible for the implementation of the oversight and assessment programs for power reactors in Region III, including inspection program management, resident inspector program, and incident response.  He has served in various agency positions including electrical engineering inspector, construction resident inspector at Watts Bar Unit 1.  Following completion of the Watts Bar unit, Mr. Lara was re‑assigned as a Resident Inspector and later as Senior Resident Inspector at the Monticello and Kewaunee sites, respectively.  He was later promoted to Chief, Electrical Engineering Branch, and Technical Support Staff Team Leader, in the Region III office, prior to being selected for the Senior Executive Service in 2016.

Mr. Lara received a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Houston and is a registered professional engineer.  He is a graduate of the NRC’s Senior Executive Service Candidate Development Program.
