Yves Porier

 Yves Poirier is an inspector for the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) with over 25 years of experience in physical protection systems, guard force contract administration, museums security, special events security, transport security and nuclear security. After honing his technical, supervisory and management skills in museum security, Yves accepted a position as Security Advisor at the CNSC in 2008. Over the course of four (4) years, Yves rose to the level of CNSC Inspector for High-Security Nuclear Facilities (HSNF) in Canada and Subject Matter Expert (SME) in nuclear security matters.

In 2014, Yves was promoted to Team Leader, High-Security Nuclear Facilities and led a team of inspectors and specialists responsible for compliance verification and performance testing activities at fourteen (14) nuclear facilities across Canada. In 2018, Yves became Team Leader, Nuclear Security Support Operations where he now leads the intelligence unit, the performance testing program and the regulatory framework for security documents.

Yves became a Certified Nuclear Security Professional through the World Institute of Nuclear Security (WINS) and recently completed a university certificate program in Public Administration. He has a keen interest in linking domestic legislation with Canada’s international obligations.
