Susan Perkins
Susan is the Senior Director of Security and Incident Preparedness in the Generation & Suppliers Division of the Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI) in Washington, DC. With more than 30 years of experience, she is responsible for all issues relating to commercial nuclear physical security, cyber security, and emergency preparedness and planning.
Susan leads industry working groups, committees of industry leaders, and serves as a liaison with the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), and Department of Homeland Security (DHS). She also chairs the Nuclear Sector Coordinating Council (NSCC) whose mission is to advance the physical and cyber security posture of the nation’s commercial nuclear infrastructure in the context of overall national infrastructure protection.
She has completed the Radiological Emergency Preparedness Executive Education Program at the Naval Postgraduate School's Center for Homeland Defense and Security, the Nuclear Operational Risk Management Course at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Department of Nuclear Science and Engineering, and the Senior Nuclear Plant Manager’s Course at the Institute of Nuclear Power Operators (INPO) National Academy for Nuclear Training.
