Jean-Luc Lachaume
Jean-Luc Lachaume was appointed as a Commissioner of the ASN for a 6-year term by decree of the President of the Republic on December 21, 2018.
Prior to his appointment, Mr. Lachaume served as the Executive Director for Emergency Preparedness and Response at the French Institute for Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety (IRSN) from November 2017 to December 2018.
Mr. Lachaume held various positions at the ASN from 1998 to 2017. He began his tenure at the ASN as head of the department responsible for crisis management, inspections, and environmental reviews. In 2004, he was appointed Deputy Director-General, chiefly responsible for oversight of nuclear installations for research and waste disposal in addition to oversight of small-scale medical and industrial nuclear activities. He has significant international experience having served as the French representative on the IAEA Commission on Safety Standards and chair of the IAEA Regulatory Cooperation Forum. He has also been actively involved in bilateral relations with the NRC.
Mr. Lachaume is a graduate of the French Naval Academy and the Military Nuclear Energy Applications Engineering School.
