Michael Benson

Michael obtained a Ph. D. in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Tennessee.  He joined the U.S. NRC as a staff member of the Advisory Committee on Reactor Safeguards in 2008, where he completed the NRC’s Nuclear Safety Professional Development Program.  He represents NRC on several ASME Section XI Code committees.  His interests lie in vessel and piping integrity, including aging management of reactor vessel internals.
