Safety Evaluation Report

The NRC staff reviewed the Callaway Plant, Unit 1, license renewal application for compliance with the requirements of Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations, Part 54, "Requirements for Renewal of Operating Licenses for Nuclear Power Plants," and prepared this report to document its findings. The document was issued on April 23, 2013, as "Safety Evaluation Report with Open Items Related to the License Renewal of Callaway Plant, Unit 1."

Subsequently, on August 21, 2014, the document "Safety Evaluation Report Related to the License Renewal of Callaway Plant, Unit 1" was issued. In March 2015, the staff published the final "Safety Evaluation Report Related to the License Renewal of Callaway Plant, Unit 1" as NUREG-2172.

Environmental Impact Statement

NUREG-1437, "Generic Environmental Impact Statement for License Renewal of Nuclear Plants Regarding Callaway Plant, Unit 1 (NUREG-1437, Supplement 51) Final Report," was published in October 2014. This supplement documents the NRC staff's review of the environmental issues at Callaway Plant, Unit 1 regarding the Ameren application for license renewal of that facility. The supplement was prepared in accordance with 10 CFR 51.71. This supplemental environmental impact statement includes the NRC staff's analysis that considers and weighs the environmental effects of the proposed action (license renewal), the environmental impacts of alternatives to the proposed action, and potential mitigative measures for reducing or avoiding adverse impacts. It also includes the NRC staff's recommendation regarding the proposed action.
