DESCRIPTION:
Any member force load applied to PLANE FRAME members produces incorrect results if the member properties include non-zero shear center eccentricity values (EY, EZ) that place the shear center outside the global plane of the structure. For example, this problem will occur for unequal-leg angle cross sections and channel cross sections having beta -angle = 0.0 in PLANE FRAME XY structures because the shear centers for these cross sections lie outside the global plane of the structure. On the other hand, this problem will not occur for T sections having beta-angle = 0.0 in PLANE FRAME XY structures because the shear center lies in the plane of the web which corresponds to the global plane of the structure.
This problem does not occur with PLANE TRUSS, PLANE GRID, SPACE FRAME, or SPACE TRUSS members, nor does the problem occur for member temperature or member distortion loads applied to any type of member in a plane structure.
