DESCRIPTION: |
| The displacements at a master joint, produced by a nonlinear static analysis, are incorrect if the following conditions are present: |
| 1. | A RIGID PLANE, RIGID PLATE, or RIGID PIN element is connected to the master joint. |
| 2. | No other element is connected to the master joint. |
| 3. | Other members having degrees of freedom which are different from those of the rigid body are connected to the slave nodes. For example, a RIGID PLANE element parallel to the global XY plane and with space frame members connected to one or more of the slave joints will exhibit this problem. On the other hand, correct master joint displacements will be produced for the same RIGID PLANE element with only plane frame XY members connected to the slave nodes. |
| Workaround: |
| | This problem does not apply to RIGID SOLID elements. RIGID SOLID elements in combination with appropriate SAVE RELEASES may be used in place of the RIGID PLANE, RIGID PLATE, or RIGID PIN elements. |
