Per 10 CFR 50.155(h),  on September 9, 2022, Order EA–12–049, "Order Modifying Licenses With Regard to Requirements for Mitigation Strategies for Beyond-Design-Basis External Events" was withdrawn for each licensee or construction permit holder that was issued those Orders. (84 FR 39684)

Regulatory Guide 1.226, "Flexible Mitigation Strategies for Beyond-Design-Basis Events,” endorses, with clarifications and additions, NEI 12-06, Revision 4, as an acceptable method for applicants and licensees to demonstrate compliance with certain aspects of 10 CFR 50.155.

JLD-ISG-12-02 Interim Staff Guidance for Compliance with Order EA-12-050 Concerning Reliable Hardened Vents WITHDRAWN

Order EA-12-050 issued on March 12, 2012 was superseded by Order EA-13-109 dated June 5, 2013 in response to Staff Requirements Memorandum (SRM) for SECY-12-0157, “Consideration of Additional Requirements for Containment Venting Systems for Boiling Water Reactors with Mark I and Mark II Containments,” dated March 19, 2013.  Order EA-13-109 rescinds the requirements imposed in Section IV and Attachment 2 of EA-12-050 and replaces them with the requirements contained in Section IV and Attachment 2 of EA-13-109. The guidance for compliance with EA-12-050 is no longer needed.

JLD-ISG-12-03 Interim Staff Guidance for Compliance with Order EA-12-051 Concerning Spent Fuel Pool Instrumentation CLOSED

Per 10 CFR 50.155(h), on September 9, 2022, Order EA–12–051, "Order Modifying Licenses With Regard to Reliable Spent Fuel Pool Instrumentation" was withdrawn for each licensee or construction permit holder that was issued those Orders. (84 FR 39684)

Regulatory Guide 1.227, "Wide-Range Spent Fuel Pool Level Instrumentation," in part, endorses NEI 12-02 as an acceptable method for applicants and licensees to demonstrate compliance with certain aspects of 10 CFR 50.155.

JLD-ISG-12-04 Interim Staff Guidance on Performing a Seismic Margin Assessment in Response to the March 2012 Request for Information Letter WITHDRAWN

This guidance supported licensee efforts to complete the seismic hazard reevaluations in response to the March 2012, 10 CFR 50.54(f) request for information. By September 24, 2020, the NRC staff completed all responses and any needed regulatory assessments related to the seismic hazard reevaluation information requested in Enclosure 1 of the 50.54(f) letter except for Indian Point, Unit 3, and the Palisades Nuclear Plant. The staff approved deferral of the 50.54(f) letter seismic responses based on the expected early shutdown of the facilities. Both Indian Point and Palisades have now permanently ceased operation.  This guidance is being withdrawn because it is no longer needed.

JLD-ISG-16-01 Interim Staff Guidance for Activities Related to Near-Term Task Force Recommendation 2.1, Flooding Hazard Reevaluation; Focused Evaluation and Integrated Assessment WITHDRAWN

This guidance supported licensee efforts to complete the flood hazard reevaluations in response to the March 2012, 10 CFR 50.54(f) request for information. By August 13, 2020, the NRC staff completed all responses and any needed regulatory assessments related to the flood hazard reevaluation information requested in Enclosure 2 of the 50.54(f) letter except for Indian Point, Units 2 and 3. The staff approved deferral of the 50.54(f) letter flood responses based on the expected early shutdown of the facilities. Both Indian Point Units 2 and 3 have now permanently ceased operation. 
This guidance is being withdrawn because it is no longer needed.
