Abstract

This report describes the Heated Detonation Tube (HDT). Detonation cell width and velocity results are presented for H2-air mixtures, undiluted and diluted with CO2 and H22O for a range of H2 concentration, initial temperature and pressure. The results show that the addition of either CO2 or H2O significantly increases the detonation cell width and hence reduces the detonability of the mixture. The results also show that the detonation cell width is reduced (detonability is increased) for increased initial temperature and/or pressure.
