Abstract: The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) Information Digest (NUREG-1350) provides a summary of information about the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, NRC's regulatory responsibilities, NRC licensed activities, and general information on domestic and worldwide nuclear energy. The digest, published annually, is a compilation of nuclear- and NRC-related data and is designed to serve as a quick reference to major facts about the agency and the industry it regulates. Information on generating capacity and average capacity factor for operating U.S. commercial nuclear power reactors is obtained from monthly operating reports that are submitted directly to the NRC by the licensee. This information is reviewed by the NRC for consistency only and no independent validation and/or verification is performed.
Purpose: The publication of the NRC Information Digest is in compliance with the agency goal to be more responsive to the public and maintain an awareness within the NRC staff of efforts expended by the agency to achieve its mission. This publication is not in response to any direct legislative or regulatory requirement other than the overall mandate of the government to provide efficient public access to information.
