New Mexico

NRC's Regional Office in Arlington (Region IV) is responsible for carrying out many of the agency's duties in New Mexico. No operating nuclear reactors are located in New Mexico. However, Louisiana Energy Services is operating a Gas Centrifuge Uranium Enrichment Facility in Eunice, and International Isotopes has a license to construct a Deconversion Facility in Hobbs.  Both of these fuel cycle facilities will be inspected by the Regional Office in Atlanta, GA (Region II), who has responsibility for the fuel cycle. New Mexico is an Agreement State.

More information about New Mexico's role in ensuring the safe use of radioactive materials can be obtained from the NRC Office of State Program's Directory of State Regulations, Legislation, and Web Sites.
